Sensory Garden Update

TThe Friends are delighted to report that work on the new Friends Sensory Garden within the Chelsea Gardens is progressing well with most of the planting completed. Outstanding ground works will shortly also be completed on the footpaths and water features. An official opening event is now being planned by the Friends for Saturday 13th September.

The overall size of the sensory garden is 24m x 12m and has been designed by The Friends’ Drop in Gardening Group together with professional landscape architect Theresa Rham to create a design to replace the old rose garden.

Funding of £15,000 for this project has been received from the Town Park and the Parks for People Lottery Fund. Donations of cash and equipment have also been received from local companies including £200       worth of plants from Dobbies Garden World Shrewsbury, 500 paviours from Blockleys Bricks, five bags of top soil from Jewsons, Harvester Restaurants and Enigma Imports Ltd.
